The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act

This law protects the job right of individuals who voluntarily or involuntarily leave employment positions to undertake military service. It also prohibits employers from discriminating against past and present members of the uniformed services, and applicants to the uniformed services.

Employers are required to provide to persons entitled to the rights and benefits under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), a notice of the rights, benefits and obligations of such persons and such employers under USERRA.

However, employers are free to provide the notice to employees in other ways that will minimize costs while ensuring that the full text of the notice is provided (e.g., by handing or mailing out the notice, or distributing the notice via e-mail).

America’s Heroes At Work

America’s Heroes at Work is a public education campaign focusing on the employment challenges of transitioning service members living with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Designed for employers and the workforce development system, the project provides information and tools to help individuals with TBI and/or PTSD succeed in the workplace — particularly members of the military returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, but also the other millions of Americans experiencing these common conditions.

Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital

Part of VA Heartland Network, the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital provides care and treatment to eligible veterans from throughout Missouri.
