Criminal background check
The final candidate for a university position is required to pass a background check prior to beginning the duties of the new position. HR-504 Background Checks and Criminal Convictions contains the full university policy.
The process for initiating the background check includes:
- Supervisors must provide finalists the disclosure form and summary of rights document.
- Disclosure forms are returned in person or faxed to HRS at 573-882-8811 to initiate the check.
The following serves as a guide in determining when a criminal background check is required.

*Note: There are situations where criminal background checks may be required due to other criteria. Examples include but are not limited to grant, credentialing and licensing requirements.
