Research Assistant or Associate Professor - Rice Production Systems Research (080184)

Position Description/Responsibilities: The Division of Plant Sciences, College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources at the University of Missouri-Columbia invites applications for a non-tenure-track position, at the rank of Research Assistant Professor or Research Associate Professor, in rice Production Systems Research.

The position will be located at the University of Missouri's Delta Research Center in Portageville, which currently houses six faculty members. This location is in the most northern region of US rice production and will provide a unique opportunity to conduct research to improve profit potential for rice and possibly other crops.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized, extramurally funded program in rice production research that compliments ongoing research within the College. The person in this research position must succeed in doing applied research that meets the needs of our clientele and the scientific community. Opportunities exist to advise and co-advise graduate students and collaborate with scientists within the Division of Plant Sciences, the College, the USDA-ARS, and the USDA-APHIS Wildlife Services.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Agronomy, Crop Science or related field with an emphasis on production research. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in rice production research; the ability to garner extramural funding to support the program; good oral and written communication skills; and the capacity to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Presentation of research in peer-reviewed journals; presentations at scientific conferences; and delivery of oral or written results to farmers and rice industry clientele are outputs of this position.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with training and experience. Benefits available include group health, life, dental, disability, insurance and a retirement plan.
