HR-402 Vacations explains the university’s vacation policy in detail, but the following charts summarize the accrual rates.

Note: These accrual rates are based on a full, 40-hour work week. The accruals are prorated using the full time equivalency chart.

Administrative and professional

Includes employees designated as exempt. They are paid monthly, and the accrual process for them is run monthly in PeopleSoft.

Administrative support

Includes employees designated as non-exempt with a special leave plan due to changes in job category related to FLSA regulation change in 2004.They are paid biweekly and accrue biweekly.

Moving from an academic position to a staff position

HR-113 includes the following regarding the proration of personal days when an employee transfers from an academic position to an administrative, service and support staff position: 

Academic staff members are not credited with vacation, sick leave and personal days. When the academic staff member becomes administrative, service and support, personal days will be prorated beginning with the month of the original date of hire (i.e., benefit eligibility date). Vacation and sick days will begin to accrue as of the date of transfer.
